Lots of talk about the Heisman ceremony today on Out of Bounds. Not so much a breakdown of the players and their seasons, but more specifically what Tyrann Mathieu’s aggressive suit he wore on Saturday night.

I listened to the entire first hour of Out of Bounds this morning and my unofficial count was 6 separate mentions of the suit by Bo. That’s six mentions in four segments. He couldn’t get over it. Bo called it “the highlight of the night” for him on Saturday. His first question to Chadd Scott went something like “was the best thing about the Heisman RG3 or Honey Badger’s suit?”
First, I agree. That thing is fantastic. When you walk around with same hairstyle Wesley Snipes sported in Demolition Man you have carte blanche to wear what you want when you want. If you want to wear a Pop Tart wrapper and call it a suit – you can do that. Plus, I think he pulls it off. When your nickname is the the Honey Badger it’s okay to say “look at me.”
But Bo drove this thing fucking thing into the ground. I only heard the first hour. Who know s how many times he brought it up later? He brought it up one time in the same breath as the Army / Navy game, the Pujols signing, and the Chris Paul non-trade as if it really had any importance.
This was a direct quote from Bo on The Suit: “This was a fashion statement for the south. People don’t think we can dress (Ed. I wonder why) but that guy looked like New York or LA. Or Mars…I loved it.” Really, that impresses you? A young kid wearing a loud outfit. Let’s pump the brakes. It’s only a suit.
Plus, Bo didn’t even mention the best sartorial highlight of the night: Robert Griffin’s socks. Look at these things – socks with a cape. If I had a pair of socks like this, I would wear them every day. I don’t mean just weddings and cool parties. Every. Day.
